MathStride Terms of Use

Effective Date: August 3, 2026

By creating an account and using MathStride (the app and this website, together the "service"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Use of the Service

MathStride is an educational tool for practicing mathematics: the app generates practice problems and checks answers written on screen.

Accounts are for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. If the person practicing is a child, you must be the child's parent or legal guardian; the child may use the app to complete practice problems under your account, with your consent and supervision. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

Educational standards. MathStride's problems are designed to follow widely used, publicly available educational standards and curricula, which may include the Common Core State Standards, California's Common Core, the New York State mathematics program, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and Advanced Placement (AP). MathStride is an independent service and is not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these standards, programs, school districts, states, the College Board, or any governmental or educational authority. References to these standards describe only the general framework our content aims to follow — we do not guarantee that any problem fully or accurately conforms to any particular standard, grade level, or curriculum.

2. AI-Powered Generation & Checking Disclaimer

MathStride uses artificial intelligence to plan practice work and to read answers written on screen. AI processing is performed by one or more third-party providers, which may include Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), and Google (Gemini).

You acknowledge and agree that AI-generated problems and answer keys may contain errors; answer reading is not perfect and may misread handwriting, symbols, or numbers; and correct answers may be marked incorrect and vice versa. MathStride is not a substitute for teacher evaluation or official assessment. You accept the risk of these mistakes and agree to use results only as a learning aid, applying your own judgment.

3. Free Tier

MathStride offers a free tier: every registered account receives a limited monthly allowance of complimentary practice sets (currently 3 sets per month) at no cost. The free tier requires you to create an account and sign in.

The free tier is provided at our sole discretion. We may reduce, change, suspend, or discontinue the free tier entirely at any time, for any reason, and without prior notice or liability. Continued availability of any free allowance is not guaranteed.

4. Subscriptions & Billing

For a higher monthly allowance, MathStride offers auto-renewable subscriptions purchased through Apple's App Store. By purchasing a subscription, you agree that:

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to submit illegal, harmful, or inappropriate content; use the service for non-educational purposes; or attempt to interfere with, reverse-engineer, or abuse the system. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

6. Intellectual Property

MathStride and its operators own all rights to the service, including its software, design, branding, and documentation. Generated problems are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial, educational use only. Content you submit for checking (your written answers) remains yours; you grant us a limited license to process it solely to provide the service. You own your results.

7. Privacy & Children's Data

Your use of MathStride is also governed by our Privacy Policy. The service is directed at the adult account holder; a child participates only by completing practice problems under the account holder's supervision. Answer images written on screen are processed for checking and are not stored on our servers.

8. Service Availability

MathStride is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee continuous or error-free operation, and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without notice.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MathStride is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind; we disclaim all implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose; and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including incorrect results, academic outcomes, data loss, or service interruptions. Our total liability shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $10.00 USD. This cap applies whether you use a paid subscription or the free service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MathStride and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service, your child's use of the service, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the service at any time and may delete your account in the app.

12. Dispute Resolution

Before initiating any formal proceeding, you agree to first contact us at support@mathstride.app and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. If the dispute is not resolved informally, you agree that it will be resolved through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. Arbitration will take place in Texas or, at your election, by phone or video conference. You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis only and waive any right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative proceeding. Either party may bring an individual action in small claims court if the claim qualifies. We will pay arbitration fees to the extent required by AAA rules for consumer disputes.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles.

14. General

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MathStride regarding the service. We may update these Terms from time to time; for material changes we will notify you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
